Hounds Remain 6th after 3rd Round of Empire 8 Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College tied for fourth with a third round score of 331; however, the Greyhounds remain in sixth place of the eight teams in the 2013-14 Empire 8 Conference Championships after the first spring round Friday at the Hershey Country Club.

The Greyhounds have a 976 after three rounds for sixth while St. John Fisher College strengthened its hold on first place with a 902, 25 strokes ahead of the The University of Scranton.

The Empire 8 splits the conference championship into two rounds in the fall at Yahnundasis Country Club in New Hartford, New York in September and two rounds in the spring on the East Course of the Hershey Country Club.

Individually for the Greyhounds, sophomore Jim Maru is in 13th place after three rounds with a 237 after an 82 on the par 71 course Friday afternoon. Freshman Aaron Brown is tied for 18th at 242 through 54 holes as he too had an 82 Friday. Sophomore Evan Dickinson is tied for 22nd at 247 while freshman Dan Leppert is tied for 24th at 250. Dickinson fired an 82 in the third round while Leppert carded an 85. Senior Eric Schultz, who missed the two fall rounds, carded a 90 on Friday while freshman Andrew Garino is in 35th place at 291 with a 110 in the third round.

The final round of the 2013-14 Empire 8 Championships will be played on Saturday, April 19.
