Golfers Tie for 6th at Gettysburg Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team opened its 2014 spring schedule with a tie for sixth place at the Gettysburg College Spring Invitational played at The Bridges Golf Club Saturday.

The Hounds were tied with the host Bullets in sixth with team scores of 332 while McDaniel College won the team title of the 12 participating schools with a 310.

Sophomore Jim Maru paced Moravian individually with a round of 79 on the par 72 course, tying for eighth place of 63 golfer, while sophomore Evan Dickinson was tied for 15th with a round of 81. Both Maru and Dickinson birdied the par 5, fifth hole on the course and Maru had nine pars in his round while Dickinson had seven pars.

Freshmen Aaron Brown and Dan Leppert each carded rounds of 86, which tied them for 35th, and both golfers each had six pars as well. Freshman Andrew Garino rounded out the Hounds' line-up Saturday with a 99 that included two pars.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Monday, March 24 at the York (Pa.) College Invitational being played at the Out Door Country Club starting at 12:00 p.m.
