Greyhounds Post Non-Conference Win at Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2018 fall season with an 8-1 victory at Gwynedd Mercy University over two days finishing Monday.

The Greyhounds and the Griffins began the match on Thursday, September 27 before rain began and halted the contest. Before the weather interruption, the Hounds had a 3-0 lead after getting an 8-6 victory from freshmen Daniel Salimnejad and Neil Guarino at first doubles and 8-0 sweeps from senior Isaac Schefer and sophomore Sean Kearns at second doubles and senior Austin Grace and sophomore Mason Hudnall at third doubles.

The singles action got underway last week before finishing on Monday with Moravian winning five matches to give first-year Head Coach Aaron Wilf his first victory with the men's program. Schefer earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at first singles while Salimnejad recorded a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (13-11) victory at second singles. Hudnall posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at fourth singles while Guarino had a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles and Kearns won 6-3, 6-0 at sixth singles.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to close out the 2018 fall portion of the schedule on Wednesday, October 3 when the squad welcomes FDU-Florham to Hoffman Courts for a non-conference contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
