Greyhounds Edge Penn State Behrend in Final Match at Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team completed its trip to the Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, South Carolina with a 5-4 victory over Penn State Behrend Wednesday afternoon.

The Hounds, who are now 4-3 on the season, led 2-1 after doubles action. Sophomores Mason Hudnall and Sean Kearns tied the score at 1-1 with an 8-2 victory at third doubles while the tandem of senior Isaac Schefer and freshman Daniel Salimnejad earned an 8-3 win at first doubles to give the Blue and Grey the lead.

Schefer posted a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at first singles to stretch the lead to 3-1 while Salimnejad won by the same score at second singles to make it a 4-1 advantage. The Lions took the next three singles matches including three set contests by Hudnall at fourth singles and freshman Neil Guarino. Kearns posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at sixth singles to secure the victory and end the contest.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, March 16 when the squad hosts Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Hoffman Courts.
