Moravian Men Top Eastern in Non-Conference Action at Hoffman Courts

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over visiting Eastern University at Hoffman Courts Tuesday afternoon with the non-conference contest being cut short due to a light rain beginning to fall.

The Greyhounds, now 11-7 overall on the year as the program clinched a winning record, took two of the three doubles matches to lead 2-1. Sophomores Mason Hudnall and Sean Kearns posted an 8-1 win at third doubles to start the afternoon while senior Isaac Schefer and freshman Daniel Salimnejad recorded an 8-3 triumph at first doubles to for a 2-0 lead.

The Blue and Grey won all four singles matches that were completed with Kearns coming off the courts first with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at sixth singles. Senior Peter Demyan made it a 4-1 match with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at first singles while Salimnejad clinched the team point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. Schefer won in three sets, 6-3, 4-7, 11-9 at second singles while Hudnall and senior Austin Grace were still on the courts when they became too wet to continue.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, April 20 when the squad hosts Drew University in the final Landmark Conference regular season match at 11:00 a.m. on Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds will also be celebrating Senior Day on Saturday.
