Greyhounds Edge FDU-Florham to Finish Fall Season at 2-2

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team edged FDU-Florham, 5-4, in non-conference action on Hoffman Courts Wednesday afternoon to finish the fall portion of the 2018-19 season with a 2-2 mark.

The Hounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead and had a 2-1 advantage after the doubles action. Senior Isaac Schefer and sophomore Mason Hudnall were the first off the courts with an 8-2 win at second doubles while sophomore Sean Kearns and freshman Neil Guarino posted an 8-6 victory at third doubles to put the Blue and Grey ahead.

Schefer was also the first off the court in singles action with a 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles as Moravian increased its lead to 3-1. Senior Peter Demyan earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles to make it 4-1 for the Hounds before Guarino scored a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at sixth singles to clinch the match. The Devils would win the remaining three contests with Hudnall and freshman Daniel Salimnejad each going to a third set for Moravian before falling.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to begin the 2019 spring season on Saturday, March 16 when the squad hosts Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Hoffman Courts.
