Moravian Men Rally Past Catholic in Singles Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team won five of six singles matches to come-from-behind and defeat visiting The Catholic University of America, 6-3, in Landmark Conference action at Hoffman Courts Saturday.

The Greyhounds, now 8-5 overall and 2-2 in Landmark Conference play, trailed 2-1 after the doubles action completed with the tandem of senior Isaac Schefer and freshman Daniel Salimnejad posting an 8-5 win at first doubles.

The Hounds then captured five singles contests for the victory. Senior Peter Demyan was the first off the courts with a 6-0, 6-3 win at first singles while Salimnejad's 6-4, 6-2 triumph at third singles put Moravian ahead 3-2. Schefer dropped a tough three-set match that evened the team score before the Greyhounds took the last three contests. Senior Austin Grace made it 4-3 for the Blue and Grey with a 7-5, 6-4 win at fourth singles while sophomore Sean Kearns clinched the victory for the Blue and Grey with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at sixth singles. Sophomore Mason Hudnall finished off the afternoon with a three-set win at fifth singles.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, April 7 when the squad hosts Goucher College in another Landmark Conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
