EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad dropped a 10-6 decision to Wilkes University Saturday in the opening game of a Landmark Conference series.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds hit as the home team even though the game was played at Wilkes as the weather forced the opening game of the series to be played on the Colonels' turf field

  • Wilkes answered with a run in the top of the second, and the Colonels added a run on the top of the third to knot the score at 2-2
  • The Blue & Grey retook a 3-2 edge with a run in the bottom of the third as Rabosky led off with a solo home run, his fifth homer of the season
  • The Colonels scored twice in the top of the fifth to move ahead for the first time at 4-3
  • Moravian tied the contest at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning as Cherkas led off with a triple before scoring on a long foul fly ball from Vozzo
  • Wilkes moved ahead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth and three more in the top of the eighth for a 10-4 advantage
  • The Hounds got a run in the bottom of the eighth as Vozzo started the frame with a double and eventually raced home on an RBI groundout by senior right fielder Nick Henry
  • The Blue & Grey finished off the scoring with a run in the bottom of the ninth as freshman center fielder Luke Keitsock singled to begin the inning before touching the plate on a bases loaded RBI sacrifice fly off Rabosky's bat
