SALEM, Va. --- Moravian College senior defensive end Allen Petros (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS) will be competing in the 2011 D3 Senior Classic on Friday, December 9th in Salem, Virginia.
The Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) is proud to present this exciting opportunity to showcase the Division III Senior Football Classic. The "D-III Football Senior Classic" will bring players who represent 238 D-III football programs, to a North vs. South format all-star game the first of December each year in Salem, Virginia. These players will have earned the honor to play against their best peers in a showcase for all to recognize the talent laden D-III football level. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Salem Stadium, site of the 2011 Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III National Championship game on December 15th. The contest will be aired nationally by Fox College Sports and also webcast at http://www.knoxivi.com/d3classic.
Petros, who was on the All-Centennial Conference First Team in 2011 and 2010 after making the Honorable Mention squad in 2009, led the Moravian defensive with 62 tackles this fall including 22 tackles for loss, nine of the team's 23 sacks and two forced fumbles. In his career, Petros, a starter at defensive end, set the school record with 63 and a half tackles for loss to go with 191 tackles, 28 sacks, which is second in school history, five passes defended, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Petros, who will play on the North Team in the D3 Senior Classic under Curry College Head Coach Skip Bandini, was also named to the 2009 and 2010 Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and he is a finalist for Capital One Academic All-America honors for a second consecutive year.
