Greyhounds Fall at Scranton in 2024 Regular Season Finale

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad fell to host The University of Scranton, 12-7, in Landmark Conference action Saturday to close out the 2024 regular season. 

How It Happened

  • The Royals scored the first three goals of the match before the Greyhounds got on the scoreboard with a goal from freshman attack Nick Coffaro at the 6:16 mark. Senior attack Trevor Dzama beat the buzzer to end the first quarter and pull the Blue & Grey within a goal after 15 minutes of action
  • Graduate student attack Connor James began the second quarter with a goal as the Hounds pulled even at 3-3 with 8:08 on the clock. However, the Royals scored three straight markers to head to the intermission with a 6-3 advantage
  • Scranton opened the second half with four more goals to push the edge to 10-3 before junior midfielder Aaron Judge found the net for Moravian. James and Coffaro each scored in the final 4:15 of the quarter as the Greyhounds pulled within 10-6 after 45 minutes of play
  • The Royals scored early in the fourth quarter while Judge hit the cage with a goal at the 8:35 mark. However, Scranton scored the last goal of the match with a little under three minutes remaining

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had six players register a point with Coffaro netting two goals to go with an assist and a pair of ground balls
  • James and Judge each had two goals while Dzama contributed a goal and an assist
  • Freshman midfielder Jack Bissmeyer and junior midfielder Kyle Weiss each had an assist with Weiss scooping up three ground balls
  • Junior face-off specialist Gannon Mesko was 10-for-21 on face-offs with three ground balls while freshman attack Brady Quinn had three ground balls and sophomore defender Mike Sickler forced two turnovers
  • Freshman goalie Liam Kelly recorded 15 saves to go with two ground balls
