Greyhounds Fall at Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference Action

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad fell to host Elizabethtown College, 17-7, in Landmark Conference action on the road Wednesday.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Jays scored three goals in the opening two minutes and six consecutive goals before junior midfielder Dan Kelly got the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with a man-up goal with just under four minutes left in the first quarter. Elizabethtown added one more goal for a 7-1 edge after 15 minutes of action
  • The Blue Jays tallied an early goal in the second quarter to extend the advantage to 8-1. Junior midfielder Aaron Judge netted a man-up goal, and sophomore attack Ryan Kokoszka found the net as the Hounds cut the deficit to 8-3 at the intermission
  • Moravian opened the second half with goals by senior attack Brennan Fluehr and Kelly, whose man-up goal pulled the Blue & Grey within three at 8-5 just three minutes into the third quarter. Elizabethtown countered with two goals before Kokoszka scored with a man advantage. The Blue Jays scored twice more to lead 12-6 after 45 minutes of play
  • Elizabethtown netted five straight goals in the fourth quarter while Kokoszka scored the final goal of the contest in the last minute of action

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had eight players register a point with Kokoszka netting a hat trick
  • Kelly netted two goals while Fluehr and Judge each scored once
  • Freshman attack Nick Coffaro and junior midfielder Steven Salica both dished out two assists while senior attack Trevor Dzama and senior long stick midfielder Matt Baer each had an assist. Baer scooped up seven ground balls while Dzama had a pair of ground balls
  • Senior face-off specialist Gannon Mesko was 16-for-26 on face-offs with six ground balls
  • Junior defender Jason Levy had five ground balls while sophomore midfielder Frank Britsch scooped up three ground balls
  • Junior goalie Thomas Lee played the first 15 minutes of the match while freshman goalie Liam Kelly recorded eight saves in the final 45 minutes of action
  • The Hounds had a 34-33 edge in ground balls and won 16-of-26 face-offs
