BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse team remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action, improving to 3-0 after a 14-10 victory over visiting Goucher College on John Makuvek Field Wednesday.
How It Happened
- The Gophers controls the opening quarter, netting the only three goals of the period to lead 3-0 after 15 minutes of action
- Sophomore attack Nick Coffaro got the Greyhounds onto the scoreboard just over a minute into the second quarter. Goucher answered a little over a minute later to make it 4-1. The Hounds scored twice in the next two minutes on goals from senior midfielder Aaron Judge and junior attack Ryan Kokoszka to pull within a goal. Moravian added goals from sophomore midfielder Brady Quinn and graduate student attack Trevor Dzama to lead 5-4 at the intermission
- The Blue & Grey started the second half with goals from Kokoszka and junior short stick defensive midfielder RJ Toogood for a 7-4 edge before the Gophers ended the Hounds' six-goal run. Moravian tacked on three more goals with Kokoszka, sophomore attack Kyle Gann and senior short stick defensive midfielder Kyle Weiss each finding the net to make it 10-5 midway through the third quarter. Both squads tallied twice in the remainder of the third quarter with senior midfielder Dan Kelly and Dzama scoring for the Hounds to give them a 12-7 advantage after 45 minutes of play
- Goucher outscored Moravian in the fourth quarter, 3-2, with the Blue & Grey getting goals from Judge and sophomore midfielder Hunter Klapmuts
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had 12 different players record a point with Kokoszka netting three goals
- Dzama registered two goals and five assists while Judge tallied two goals and added two ground balls
- Kelly had a goal and two assists while Coffaro added a goal, and assist and three ground balls
- Weiss posted a goal and two ground balls while Toogood, Quinn, Klapmuts and Gann all had one goal
- Senior short stick defensive midfielder Aden Moskovitz contributed an assist, two ground balls and two caused turnovers while junior attack Vincent Devito added an assist
- Senior face-off specialist Gannon Mesko was 21-for-28 on face-offs with a team-high 15 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while sophomore long stick midfielder Andrew Cassese had five ground balls and junior defender Mike Sickler had three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls
- Sophomore Liam Kelly recorded 12 saves in the victory
- The Blue & Grey had a 48-29 advantage in shots, a 37-25 edge in ground balls, went 17-for-20 on clearing attempts and 21-for-28 on face-offs
