Hounds Top Catholic in Regular Season Finale to Clinch Fourth Seed in Landmark Conference Tournament

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's tennis squad defeated visiting The Catholic University of America, 4-2, in Landmark Conference action in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse Saturday to close out the regular season and clinch the fourth seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds swept through doubles action to claim the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead. Junior Ryan Burke and freshman Roman Farhad posted a 6-4 victory at third doubles while senior Ronny Pimentel Ferrer and junior Matthew Labosky earned a 7-5 triumph at first doubles to secure the doubles point. Sophomore Gavin Labbadia and freshman Joey Kelly finished off the sweep with a 7-6 (7-2) win at second doubles
  • The Cardinals picked up a win at first singles to knot the score at 1-1 before Labbadia recorded a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory at third singles to put the Blue & Grey back on top, 2-1. Catholic answered with a win at second singles to make it 2-2 while Farhad gave Moravian the lead for good at 3-2 with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at fourth singles. Kelly clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at fifth singles. Burke won his first set at sixth singles, 7-5, but with the overall match decided, the contest was not finished
  • The Hounds will host a Landmark Conference Tournament First Round match for the second straight year at Hoffman Courts with fifth seeded Susquehanna University coming to Bethlehem to face fourth seed Moravian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29
