BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team scored a school record 12 goals in a 12-0 win over Sweet Briar (Va.) College Wednesday evening as the Greyhounds gave first-year Head Coach Kristen Gillis her first victory leading the program.

"Today was a great team win. Everyone contributed and we got to see players step up into different positions," stated Gillis after the contest. "We are excited to hit the field again Sunday and continue this success."

Moravian topped the previous school record of 10 goals, which the program had done three times including contests versus Penn State-Berks in 1981 and Cedar Crest College in 1985 and 2015. The Greyhounds had four multiple goal scorers in the contest with sophomore midfielder Olivia Schlofer and freshman midfielder Erica Heaney each scoring two goals and adding an assist and junior midfielder/forward Elizabeth Hrehovcik and freshman forward Sydney Fielding each netted a pair of goals.

Sophomore forward/midfielder Sara Cruz, freshman midfielder Mae Dienes, freshman forward Jamie Golubinski and sophomore forward Ashley Magee all had one goal while freshman defender Zoe Karvan had a pair of assists and sophomore midfielder/forward Kylie Mastricola and sophomore forward Elisa Silecchia each contributed one assist.

Hrehovcik opened the scoring just 2:05 into the contest with her first goal of the season, and she knocked in a pass from Heaney in the fourth minute for a 2-0 lead. Heaney pushed the lead to 3-0 in the fifth minute when she knocked in a pass from Karvan while Schlofer netted her first goal off the evening in the tenth minute as she put in her own rebound.

Schlofer pushed the lead to 5-0 in the 16th minute as she knocked in another rebound while Fielding scored her first career goal in the 18th minute off of a pass from Mastricola. Fielding found the back of the cage again in the 21st minute off of a rebound. Magee netted her first career goal six minutes later off of a crossing pass from Schlofer while Gobulinski finished the scoring in the first half in the 30th minute as she tapped in a loose ball on a scramble in front of the net.

The Greyhounds knocked in three goals in the first eight minutes of the second half with Cruz netting her first career goal off of a pass from Silecchia in the 41st minute. Heaney added her second goal of the match and third of the season as she lifted a shot into the cage on a penalty corner in the 42nd minute while Dienes scored her first collegiate goal a minute and a half later off of a feed from Karvan.

Moravian freshmen goalies Ashley Kunsman and Sabrina Masone each played a half to combine for the shutout.

The Greyhounds are slated to be back in action on Sunday, September 17 when the squad heads to Cedar Crest College for a non-conference match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
