Moravian Scores Four Second Half Goals to Defeat Wilkes on the Road

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team scored four times in the final 31 minutes to post a 4-1 non-conference victory at Wilkes University Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, now 2-1-1 on the year after winning their second straight match, and the Colonels were scoreless through the first half as well as the first 14 and a half minutes of the second half. Senior defender Matthew Clayton would put the Blue and Grey on the score board first in the 60th minute with his second career goal and first in two seasons. However, the lead would not last long as Wilkes tied the contest at 1-1 just 22 seconds later.

Sophomore forward Alec Aloia broke the tie in the 64th minute when he fired in a shot from 20 yards out that glanced off of the keeper's hands and into the net. Sophomore midfielder Riley McHugh pushed the Greyhounds lead to 3-1 in the 74th minute when he headed in a free kick from Clayton for McHugh's first collegiate goal, and Aloia finished off the scoring with just 22 seconds remaining when he buried a pass from sophomore midfielder Ethan Blakely for his second goal of the match.

Moravian sophomore goalie Michael Bone registered three saves in the contests as the Blue and Grey had an 11-7 advantage in shots.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to open their 2018 home season on Wednesday, September 12 with a non-conference match versus Montclair State University beginning at 7:30 p.m. beginning at 7:30 p.m.
