Moravian Men Improve to 3-0 in Landmark Conference Action with Win over Scranton

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team moved to 3-0 in Landmark Conference action with a 2-1 victory over visiting The University of Scranton Saturday afternoon on John Makuvek Field.

The Greyhounds, who improved to 6-3-2 overall, are 3-0 in conference play for the first time in the 11-year history of the Landmark Conference after the victory and are in sole possession of first place in the conference standings.

Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when senior defender Rocky Fatuova scored his first goal of the season when he headed in a corner kick from sophomore forward Ethan Blakely. The Royals answered six minutes later to knot the score at 1-1.

The Greyhounds retook the lead two minutes later when freshman defender Jared Stafford scored his team-leading fifth goal of the fall as he knocked a pass from sophomore forward Alec Aloia into the net. That would finish the scoring in the match.

Moravian sophomore goalie Michael Bone recorded six saves in the victory including two in the final 18 minutes as Scranton pushed to tie the match.

The Hounds are scheduled to head to rival Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, October 10 for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Allentown.
