Volleyball Splits Two Matches at Buttermaker Tournament

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the opening day of the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College Friday.

The Greyhounds opened the tournament with a 25-15, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18 loss to Salisbury (Md.) University before posting a 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 win over Neumann University.

Freshman outside hitter Lauren Hostetler led Moravian with 17 kills and ten digs in the match versus Salisbury University while sophomore outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo added nine kills, eight digs and five service aces.  Junior setter Kelly Brown had 32 assists and 18 digs in the match while senior libero Jesse Krasley added a team high 19 digs to go with five assists.  Senior right side hitter Samantha Saviteand freshman middle blocker Victoria Bobyak each had seven kills with Bobyak adding three blocks while freshman defensive specialist Andrea Giardina added ten digs.

Comitalo contributed a team high eight kills to go with four digs in the sweep of Neumann.  Bobyak added seven kills while Hostetler had six kills and five digs.  Brown controlled the offense with 27 assists to go with 11 digs and five kills while Krasley posted a team high 18 digs with a pair of assists.  Junior middle blocker Brittany O'Hara and sophomore outside hitter Taylor Jennings each had three kills in the victory.

Moravian will return to action in the second day of the Buttermaker Tournament on Saturday, September 8th when the squad plays King's College at 10:00 a.m. and DeSales University at 12:00 p.m.
