LANGHORNE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball squad posted its first win of the shortened 2021 season with an 88-80 non-conference win at Cairn University Monday evening as senior guard Keith Otto scored a career-high 30 points for the Greyhounds.

How It Happened

  • The Highlanders opened the scoring and had the early lead until freshman guard Alex Dietz connected on a three-pointer for a 10-8 edge for the Hounds. Moravian would extend that lead out to eight points at 22-14 after a three-pointer from sophomore guard Greg Eck with 11:31 to go in the first half.
  • Cairn closed within a point before the Blue and Grey pushed the advantage back to seven points, 30-23, on a three-pointer from Otto at the 9:11 mark. Cairn answered with the next eight points to take a 31-30 lead, but the Greyhounds came right back with a 16-2 run as a pair of free throws from senior guard Matt O'Connor had Moravian leading 46-33 with 3:26 until the intermission. However, the Hounds scored just one more point as the Highlanders finished the have with a 16-1 run to head to the locker room with a 49-47 lead
  • Cairn scored the first three points of the second half for a five-point edge and the Highlanders were up 54-49 at the 17:33 mark before a three-point play from O'Connor and a three-pointer by Eck put the Blue and Grey back on top 55-54. The teams traded the lead eight times over the next 10 minutes before the Hounds moved back ahead at 73-71 on a three-pointer from Eck with 4:57 to go
  • The score was knotted for the 11th time in the game at 75-75 as the squads headed to the final three minutes. Otto drained back-to-back three-pointers and Dietz connected on a lay-up as Moravian pulled ahead to an 83-75 advantage with just 1:20 remaining

Firsts for the Hounds

  • Otto reached 30 points for the first time in his career, surpassing his previous career-best of 23 points from December 2019
