Moravian Falls at Lancaster Bible in Final Non-Conference Game of Shortened 2021 Season

LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team fell to host Lancaster Bible College, 67-57, Tuesday evening in the Greyhounds' final non-conference contest of the shortened 2021 season. 

How It Happened

  • The Chargers jumped out to a 7-0 lead before freshman guard/forward James Thompson connected on a three-pointer for the Hounds. Moravian would come back and knot the score at 11-11 on a jumper by senior guard Keith Otto at the 13:38 mark before Lancaster Bible scored the next eight points.
  • Moravian slowly climbed back and tied the contest again at 24-24 on a jumper from senior guard Matt O'Connor with 2:37 until the intermission. Lancaster Bible would score six of the final eight points of the half to head to the locker room with a 30-26 advantage
  • Otto opened the second half with a pair of jumpers to tie the score at 30-30, and he would drain a three-pointer at 17:23 to give the Blue and Grey their first lead of the night at 33-32. Otto followed with a lay-up for a three-point edge before the Chargers scored seven straight points to move back in front. Thompson would put Moravian ahead 43-42 with a jumper in the lane with 12:32 on the clock, and freshman guard C.J. Weber hit a pair of free throws for a 48-46 Greyhound lead with 10:26 left to play
  • With the Hounds leading 50-49 after two Otto free throws, the Chargers scored four straight points. Sophomore guard Greg Eck tied the game for a seventh time at 53-53 with a free throw at the 7:02 mark; however, Lancaster Bible scored the next five points to take the lead for good and start a 14-4 run to end the contest 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian was playing its third game in a span of 77 hours after contests on Saturday afternoon and Monday evening as well
  • Otto was the only Greyhound in double digits as he scored 20 points just 24 hours after a career-high 30 points in Monday's game at Cairn
  • Weber netted a career-best seven points
  • The Greyhounds grabbed 11 offensive rebounds but had just two second chance points
