Moravian Thanks More Than 1,600 Donors During Athletics Giving Challenge from January 21-31

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College Department of Athletics and Recreation says Thank You to more than 1,600 donors that supported the Greyhounds' Athletics Giving Challenge from January 21-31.

During the challenge that began with an initial goal of 1,100 donors in 11 days, Moravian had 1,620 donors make a total of 1,750 gifts online, in person or through the mail to the athletic department totaling $134,664.41.

"During this difficult time for all of us, the entire Athletic Department is grateful to our alumni, faculty, staff, friends and families who helped to make the giving challenge such a success. Your gifts will help get us back to competing safely and stronger than ever. Thank you," commented Director of Athletics and Recreation and Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk.

Every program benefited from donors during the week, and 16 programs saw donations total more than $2,000 for the specific sport. Eight programs – football, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's basketball, baseball, softball, track & field and women's soccer – all topped 100 donors with football recording a high of 193. Seven sports – football, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, softball, men's basketball, track & field and baseball – received more than $7,000 in donations with football leading the week at $27,300. Baseball, softball, women's basketball and men's lacrosse also total more than $10,000. Moravian's Blue & Grey Club general fund also received more than $6,000 to benefit all of the Greyhounds' athletic programs and the Hounds' newest program – swimming which becomes varsity in the fall of 2021 – received over $1,400.

 The Athletic Giving Challenge campaign helped mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic providing resources to ensure Greyhound student-athlete success and well-being.
