BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The next current student-athlete in Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation Get to Know Series is women's tennis student-athlete Julianne Cassady '23. Cassady recorded a 5-1 singles mark and a 2-1 doubles slate in her debut season.

How did you choose your sport? My mom played in high school, so she influenced me to play.
Why did you come to Moravian College? For the nursing program, tennis team, and the dog friendly campus.
What is your major and how did you choose it? I am a nursing major & when I was growing up, my parents participated in events for non-profit cancer organizations and I got to see how cancer can affect families and which made me interested in understanding cancer and being in the medical field. I know nursing is going to be difficult, but it will also be very rewarding.
What are your future plans? My future plans are to be a pediatric oncology nurse, but I also want to be able to travel
What is your favorite place on campus? The Sally
What activities/organizations at Moravian College have you been active in as a student-athlete? SNA (Student Nursing Association) & SAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Committee)
What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? Fall day my freshman year where I got to pet and hold farm animals.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions? Before each first serve I bounce the ball three times, before each second serve I bounce it twice.
What advice do you have for prospective student-athletes looking to attend Moravian College? Having good time management is crucial to having success at being a student-athlete.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given? You may not always end up where you thought you would be, but you'll always end up where you were supposed to.
Who are your role models/most influential people? My parents and my old softball coach, Mike Gemmill
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? Rafeal Nadal, Emma Watson, Mac Miller
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. I have a black belt in Taekwondo.
