TEMPE, Ariz. --- Eight student-athletes from the Moravian College men's and women's tennis teams have been selected as 2020 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes and the women's squad was also received the ITA All-Academic Team award.

Junior Mason Hudnall and freshmen Andrew Hozza and Justin Szaro from the men's team and senior Lauren Steinert, juniors Brooke Adams, Kristen Cassidy and Destiny George and freshman Cristina Merone from the women' s squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes with Hudnall, Steinert, Cassidy and George earning the honor for a third consecutive year and Adams, making it for a second straight year.

For a student-athlete to ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, they must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA, earn a varsity letter and be enrolled for at least two semesters. Thousands of student-athletes across all divisions were honored with ITA Scholar-Athlete status and hundreds of teams earned the ITA All-Academic Team award for maintaining over at least a 3.20 GPA. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2019 and spring 2020).

"We were excited again this year to have several recipients of the ITA scholar-athlete / team award," stated Director of Tennis Aaron Wilf. "We're so proud of the academic award recognitions for Mason, Andrew, and Justin on the men's side and Brooke, Kristen, Destiny, Cristina, and Lauren on the women's side. We're also thrilled that once again our women's team won the ITA team award for their academic excellence. It was a very challenging year for us as we were unable to play our spring season however our student-athletes continued to flourish under adverse conditions."

Steinert was honored on the Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Team, and she also earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll along with Adams, Cassidy and George. Last fall, Adams was 6-0 in singles action while Steinert had a 5-1 mark and Merone was 3-0 in her debut season. Cassidy was 1-0 in singles and 3-2 in doubles while Adams and Merone combined for a 2-0 doubles slate. George won her only doubles contest of the year as the Greyhounds were limited to action last fall due to COVID-19 cancelling the spring portion of the season.

Hudnall was named to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll after missing the fall portion of the season due to injury. Hozza was 5-0 in singles action and had one doubles win while Szaro was 3-2 in singles and 2-3 in doubles.
