How did you choose the sport you played when you were growing up? My parents were runners and took us to races with them in the late 70s and 80s.

Why did you choose to come to Moravian College? It offered a great science department, strong music program and also gave me the ability to continue to compete athletically at the collegiate level.

What experiences as a student-athlete at Moravian helped prepare you for life after college? In order to succeed at school, I needed to learn time management, discipline and academic/ sport/ social life balance. These skills translated well into setting me up to succeed outside of college.

How did you get into your current occupation? I got a job as a field biologist with the Missouri Dept of Conversation out of college. I was a Bio/Chem major. I liked it but was not passionate enough about it to continue the career track. I moved back East and worked in outside sales for about two years and then began interviewing with a few pharmaceutical companies with the intention of landing a sales job which would best leverage my technical expertise and my people skills. However, the idea of cold calling doctors' offices was not appealing. At this time, my father asked me to work for him. He owned a small independent asset management business and was growing faster than he could handle on his own. I reluctantly agreed. I went back to school and obtained my professional licenses and designations. That was May of 1998. I found I had a strong aptitude for the technical work required with the research and analysis as well as the soft skills required to engage with clients and grow the business. Additionally, I had the organizational and management skillset to integrate more formal office procedures, hire staff, and build out a team. My father went part time in 2007 and retired completely in 2010. Fast forward to 2020 and we have evolved into the boutique private wealth management firm we are today.

What advice do you have for prospective student-athletes looking to attend Moravian College? I found the institution fostered a good balance that allowed one the bandwidth required to excel at academics AND athletics

What advice do you have for current student-athletes as they approach graduation? Even if you don't think you will use what you are learning in a class, suck it up and learn it. You will be surprised how it may come in handy.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given? You create your own luck

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? George Washington Carver, Marie Curie and Jamie Diamon

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. I play the bagpipes
