BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The next current student-athlete in Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation Get to Know Series is football student-athlete Jalen Richardson '21. Richardson has made 70 career tackles for the Greyhounds as a defensive back, and he has added 15 passes defended, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick in 21 career games. He has also returned nine kickoffs for 147 yards.

How did you choose your sport? A lot of people don't know that I play basketball and football. I have a true passion for both, but I chose football because it presented a better opportunity for continuing my education.
Why did you come to Moravian College? I chose Moravian because it presented a better opportunity for continuing my education and extending my football career.
What is your major and how did you choose it? I am a sociology major and Peace & Justice minor. I chose my major and minor after talking to a few of my professors that truly helped me get a clear vision of how I wanted to help and impact society.
What are your future plans? My future plans are to own my own training facility and explore other opportunities in the industry.
What is your favorite place on campus? My favorite place on campus is Johnston Hall. I love working out in the athletic fitness center and shooting around in the main gym.
What activities/organizations at Moravian College have you been active in as a student-athlete? BSU and I've done community service work through our football program and with coach Pukszyn. A lot of the work we do is with a great woman named Ms. Beverly who runs the "Cops & Kids" organization. We mainly worked with children that are in low-income areas, by providing them with their own books to encourage them to read/learn. Interacting with the children is a great opportunity to give back to the community and make a positive impact on the youth.
What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? Beating Gettysburg my sophomore year during homecoming week was a memorable day for me. I was able to make a lot of key plays along with my teammates. We were really able to get the job done.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions? I pray before every game starts.
What advice do you have for prospective student-athletes looking to attend Moravian College? My advice would be to stay on top of academics and always have a positive attitude in order to learn/perfect your craft.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given? If you want something or want to be at a certain place in life, you have to work for it in order to become successful… "A setback is a setup for a major come back in due time…"
Who are your role models/most influential people? My mother, Kobe Bryant, Tyrann Mathieu, Eric Thomas, and Inky Johnson
