BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is continuing its look back at its 2019-20 athletic campaign. The next entry in our second countdown of the summer – the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 7 highlight – 178 student-athletes earning conference Academic Honor Roll accolades during the 2019-20 academic year.
Both conferences that Moravian is a part of, the Landmark Conference for all sports except football which competes in the Centennial Conference, honor student-athletes at the end of each athletic season that have not only performed on the playing field but also in the classroom. Both conference honor sophomores, juniors and seniors but they have different GPA criteria. In the Landmark Conference, all sophomore, junior and seniors that have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average make the Academic Honor Roll while the Centennial Conference uses at least a 3.40 cumulative GPA as its criteria.
This past academic year, the Greyhounds had six football student-athletes make the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll while 172 Hounds, 53 in the fall, 46 in the winter and 73 in the spring garnered Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades. Moravian had 22 student-athletes make the Academic Honor Roll three times in 2019-20 with 21 competing for the cross country and track & field programs and one playing women's soccer in the fall before moving onto track & field for the winter and the spring.
