Landmark Conference Shares Update for Return to Play

Landmark Conference and moravian athletics logos for December COVID-19 Update.

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference Presidents' Council continues to meet diligently while they consider the most up-to-date information and data as it pertains to the COVID-19 pandemic and a safe return to play for their collegiate sport programs.

The group has unanimously agreed to reconvene during the first week in January to allow for more fact-gathering and the latest regional and local recommendations and guidelines to be considered when making a final decision regarding the resumption of athletics.

If conditions allow, the conference will conduct a men's and women's basketball schedule and postseason that will begin no earlier than Friday, February 5. This start date would allow Landmark institutions to participate in the minimum contest requirement for NCAA Championship participation should those Championships be held.

The conference will not conduct an Indoor Track and Field Championship due to in-person gathering restrictions and the number of staff needed to successfully conduct the event. The conference is exploring alternate models and competitive opportunities for swimming & diving. Participation opportunities for swimming and diving would not occur before February 5.

Schedules and Championship information for winter sports will be shared in early January following the next meeting of the Landmark Presidents Council. The conference will also provide an update on competitive opportunities for fall sports during the 2021 spring semester along with any modifications to the spring sports schedules and Championship formats at that time.
