NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian College men's and women's cross country squads earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors for the 2020 season.

To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater. In previous years, the team must also record a team score at the NCAA Regionals, but that requirement was waived for 2020 with the NCAA Championships cancelled due to the pandemic. The Greyhound women maintained a 3.59 cumulative GPA after the fall semester and was one of 216 women's teams to earn All-Academic honors while the men's squad had a 3.12 GPA and was one of 180 teams honored.

"Obviously, this has been a challenging year with athletics looking dramatically different and protocols have forced students to evolve in how they learn," commented Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "With that being said, we've routinely had very strong students on our cross country squads. Our teams have made it a routine of going into The Sally almost nightly after dinner, or on the weekends to study together. We've had a number of our upperclassmen students tutoring each other throughout the year. The consistent, intrinsic motivation that long distance running requires is unquestionably applicable to the new learning environment Covid has created for us. Students have had to be even more self-disciplined to work in what is often a more isolated, virtual learning environment. We're certainly proud of how our teams have done, but we're also not surprised that they've been so successful considering the drive for success they show on a daily basis."
