BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The next non-coaching staff member in the Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation's Get to Know series is our Assistant Athletic Trainer Kellie Wanamaker, who is in her first year with the Greyhounds.

Kellie Wanamaker
College: The College of William and Mary '18

How did you get into your field? I was a collegiate athlete myself and came to understand the importance of an athletic trainer on an athlete's college experience not only athletically but also as a person. I know I would not have been able to compete at such a high level without the sports medicine team so I really found a passion for giving back and giving athletes the care they very well deserve.

What is your favorite part of working at Moravian College? I just started, but so far everyone is very welcoming, knowledgeable and wiling to show me the ropes. I am excited to be here and look forward to getting to know the coaching staff and athletes more.

What is your favorite place on campus? Even though I earned my Master's from Moravian, it didn't leave much time for exploring the campus. However, I do love how gorgeous Comenius Hall is.

What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? Earning my master's degree in athletic training and then becoming part of the sports medicine team.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given? Don't ever let someone tell you that you cannot do something. If you want to accomplish something, put your head down and go after it.

Who are your role models/most influential people? My grandfather. He was a hardworking man who never spoke a negative word about anyone. He truly taught me gratitude and how important it is to be kind to those around you.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? C.C Sabathia, Carrie Underwood, and Ryan Reynolds.

What have you done more of since March that you wouldn't have if sports had not been postponed? I have gotten to spend a lot of time with my family, walk around my neighborhood more than I ever have and relax in the pool.

If you weren't in your current position, what would you be doing? I would probably be a gymnastics coach or doing something with sports nutrition as I love both of those things.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. I competed with Gaby Douglas (gymnast) when I was 12 years old and actually beat her… once!
