Moravian Women's Track & Field Squad & Danoski Receive USTFCCCA Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic Athletes and All-Academic Teams for the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field season including the Moravian College women's track & field team and graduating senior Carly Danoski on Thursday.

Overall on the NCAA Division III level, there were 477 women including Danoski from 123 institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes. The criteria for being named an All-Academic Athlete is – 1. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Data must be certifiable by the institution's registrar. 2. Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account. 3. Meet one of the following athletic criteria: A. Must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who were accepted into the Indoor National Championship, are eligible. B. Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who were accepted in the relay at the Indoor National Championship (alternates are excluded), are eligible. C. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.

Danoski competed her degree in environmental science at Moravian this past May with a 3.92 GPA, and she also finished a minor in French. Danoski finished the indoor track & field season ranked sixth on the TFRRS list in the mile with a banked-track converted time of 4:57.70 and 18th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.53.

For the NCAA Division III All-Academic Team Award, there were 209 different programs honored for their academic excellence. The criteria for the All-Academic Team Award is a cumulative team GPA (not 2018-19 academic year, not semester) of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter.

"We're extremely proud of Carly and our women's team for doing so well in the classroom this past semester, especially with all the transition to online learning which proved challenging for everyone," noted Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "We're blessed to have a number of intrinsically motivated, driven, and talented student-athletes and the recognitions academically and athletically on the national level are one of many reflections of this."
