2019 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has recognized 428 student-athletes including 53 from Moravian College by selecting them for the 2019 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

Eight student-athletes were named Players of the Year and 27 student-athletes were also named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all fall student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the fall season in good standing with their team. The Fall Academic Honor Roll begins the academic award season for the conference with the Senior Scholar-Athlete for the fall sports to be named later this month.

Moravian had student-athletes from all six of its fall teams that compete in the conference with the women's cross country program leading the way with 13 honorees. The women's soccer team had 11 selections while the men's cross country and field hockey squads each had nine student-athletes selected. The men's soccer program registered seven honorees followed by the women's volleyball squad with four.

The women's cross country squad was the runner-up at the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships and placed seniors Carly Danoski, Marlee Hornbaker, Katie Mayer and Rachel Mikols, juniors Grace Gilbert, Nora Grimm, Alison Nicolosi, Natalie Novotni and Molly Talarico and sophomores Santina Burak, Emma Marion, Rachael McCoach and Natalie Stabilito on the Academic Honor Roll. It was the third selection for Danoski, Hornbaker, Mayer and Mikols. Novotni was named the Landmark Conference Women's Performer of the Year after winning the individual title for a second straight year and she was also on the All-Conference First Team. Danoski and Gilbert were selected to the All-Conference Second Team while Hornbaker was named to the 2019 Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship Team.

The women's soccer team posted a 7-7-1 record this season. The Greyhounds placed senior Paige Weiss, juniors Oonagh Breen, Sara Cassel, Cat Cole, Ashley Hutchinson, Val Monaco and Skylar Vaughan and sophomores Alexa Brown, Megan Chesney, Morgan Covart and Hannah McHugh on the Academic Honor Roll. Weiss was selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team and also named as a three-time Academic Honor Roll selection.

The men's cross country team was second at the Landmark Conference meet and had four seniors Devon Fogel, Gregory Jaindl, Gavin Kemery and Alex Tursi, junior Peter Gingrich and sophomores Brad Clemson, Dominic DeRafelo, Richard Glennon and Shane Houghton each being honored. Fogel, Jaindl, Kemery and Tursi earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll for the third straight fall. Jaindl was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team with a runner-up finish at the Landmark Championships.

The field hockey squad placed seniors Sara Cruz, Devyn Lapp, Olivia Schlofer and Hayley Wrazien, sophomores Mae Dienes, Talea Gordon, Nicole Grayuski and Ashley Kunsman and sophomore Olivia Emrick on the Academic Honor Roll. Kunsman was also selected to the 2019 Landmark All-Conference Second Team while Wrazien was named to the 2019 Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship Team. Lapp, Schlofer and Wrazien are three-time Academic Honor Roll selections.

The men's soccer squad finished 2019 with an 11-7-1 record while playing in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the second straight season after the program's first double-digit win total since 2002, and the Greyhounds had juniors Ethan Blakely, Michael Feeley and Riley McHugh and sophomores Kaiden Chinchar, Quinn Middleton, Anthony Nagy and Safa Turkdonmez named to the Academic Honor Roll. Nagy was also selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team.

The women's volleyball team had seniors Victoria Kauffman and Alexis Szaro and sophomores Kirah Dreisbach and Renee Mapa named to the Academic Honor Roll. Kauffman and Szaro made the Academic Honor Roll for a third straight fall, and Szaro was also named to the 2019 Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship Team.
