BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is continuing its look back at its 2019-20 athletic campaign. The final event in the Top 10 Exciting Games from the past year is our No. 1 highlight – the women's basketball squad rallying from a 13-point deficit to defeat rival Muhlenberg College, 58-54, and give Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk her 600th career victory

The Greyhounds, who are making their second appearance in the countdown, posted 15-11 record in 2019-20 with an 8-6 mark in Landmark Conference action. The Hounds would head to the postseason for the 19th straight season and the 30th time in Spirk's 33 seasons.

On December 3, the Blue and Grey welcomed the rival Mules to Johnston Hall for the chance to give Spirk her second milestone victory over Muhlenberg. The contest started with the Mules jumping out to a 16-11 lead after the first quarter, and Muhlenberg headed to the locker room with a 28-19 advantage.

Early in the third quarter, the Mules stretched the edge to 13 points at 35-22 before Moravian finished the third quarter with a 16-10 run to get within seven points, 45-38, heading to the final quarter.

The Hounds, who outscored Muhlenberg in the final 10 minutes, score the first six points of the period to close within a point at 45-44 on a lay-up from senior forward Nadine Ewald, with 5:49 to go. Moravian eventually took a 49-48 lead on a three-pointer from senior guard Maddie Capuano. Muhlenberg would knot the score twice more, the final time at 54-54 with 1:03 left on the clock before freshman guard Madison Amy sank a three-pointer and a free throw in the final 36 seconds for the victory.

With the win, Spirk became the eight active NCAA Division III coach and 19th overall Division III coach to reach 600 career victories. After the season ended, Spirk had a career record of 610-296 after 33 years on the Moravian bench.
