209 Hounds Garner Dean's List Accolades for Spring 2020

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College Department of Athletics and Recreation had 209 of its student-athletes receive Dean's Honors List accolades from the College for achieving a 3.50 or higher grade-point average during the 2020 Spring semester.

"The coaches and staff in the Athletic Department are extremely proud of our student-athlete honorees that achieves the Dean's Honor List for the spring semester, especially with the switch to online learning midway through the semester," stated Director of Athletics & Recreation and Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "As a Division III institution, we maintain that same philosophy in our department: in order to be a successful athlete, you must be a successful student. Our coaches understand that academics are a top priority and our athletes all know that success in the classroom comes first. Congratulations to all the Dean's Honor List student-athletes."

The 209 Greyhounds account nearly half of the student-athletes that began the 2019-20 academic year on teams' rosters. The total also includes 22 student-athletes that are participating in more than one sport and 50 members of the group had a perfect 4.0 during the spring semester including 10 of the 22 multi-sport student-athletes.

The football squad had the most honorees with 28 student-athletes earning Dean's Honor List accolades while the women's soccer team had 20 student-athletes honored followed by the men's soccer program with 19 honorees. The women's track & field squad had 18 student-athletes selected to the Dean's Honor List while the women's lacrosse team had 16 selections, the women's lacrosse squad had 14 honorees, the baseball program had 14 selections and the women's cross country, field hockey and softball squads all had 13 honorees. The men's lacrosse team had 11 student-athletes garner Dean's Honor List while the women's basketball squad had 11 selections followed by men's cross country with eight honorees, women's tennis with seven selections, men's basketball with six, volleyball and men's track & field with five honorees each, golf with four and men's tennis with two. The 22 dual-sport student-athletes are listed with their first sport played during the academic year.

Moravian also had four teams – women's cross country, field hockey, women's soccer and women's tennis – that had all of its student-athletes earn over a 3.0 GPA for the semester.
