BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is joining with more than 440 schools across the country in celebration of NCAA Division III Week, which officially runs from Monday, April 13 and runs through Sunday, April 19.

This ninth annual event will celebrate student-athletes' academic achievements and athletic accomplishments, in addition to their campus leadership and their involvement in community service.

Approximately 24 percent of Moravian's student body competes on one of Moravian's 20 intercollegiate athletic teams. During the past fall semester, 135 of the Greyhounds' student-athletes achieved Dean's Honors List accolades from Moravian with a 3.50 GPA or higher, accounting for 26 percent of Moravian's total student-athletes and 18.7 percent of the overall Dean's List from the College.

Moravian has been celebrating its participation in Division III Week since March 20 with the third class to be honored into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. Chi Alpha Sigma works with NCAA and NAIA member institutions to recognize outstanding college student-athletes for their successes both on the field of competition and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a junior and/or senior with a 3.4 or higher GPA and have earned a varsity letter. The Greyhounds have 64 honorees this year that have been recognized on the Greyhounds' social media accounts and will continue this week, and the group will receive a certificate and medallion with the 29 seniors also receiving honors cords to wear at graduation in October.

With the student-body currently off campus due to COVID-19, the year's Division III Week will take place entirely online. Throughout the week, the Greyhounds will post graphics highlighting each program as well as initiatives in the department.

Moravian will also have several student-athletes to profile on Tuesday, April 14 and staff members on Saturday, April 18. It is also Student Worker Appreciation Week at Moravian, and the Greyhounds will profile some of the students that work behind the scenes for athletics on Thursday, April 16. Those profiles will be posted to the Greyhounds' Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MoravianCollegeAthletics), Twitter (https://twitter.com/MCGreyhounds) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/moravianathletics) accounts.
