Top Stories of 2018-19 - No. 1 Moravian Claims Second Straight Landmark Conference Presidents' Trophy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is finishing its look back at its 2018-19 athletic campaign. The final entry in our second countdown of the summer – the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 1 highlight – the Greyhounds winning the Landmark Conference Presidents' Trophy for the second consecutive year.

The Trophy is awarded based on a formula that rewards institutions for regular season conference standings as well as results in Landmark postseason competition. The point structure was revised in the summer of 2016 with different point hierarchies for team and individual sports, but the maximum number of points any team can earn is 15. The total number of points each institution earn is divided by the number of Landmark sports sponsored to determine the average.

Moravian captured three of the first four Presidents' Trophies, interrupted only by Susquehanna in 2010. The River Hawks would go on to win the trophy in 2012, 2014 and 2016 while Catholic was named the winners in 2013 and 2015. Elizabethtown won in 2017 before the Greyhounds have returned to the top of the standings in 2018 and 2019.

]The Blue and Grey were fueled by six Landmark Conference Championships in 2018-19 with titles from the men's basketball, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, women's tennis, men's outdoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field programs. The Greyhounds also had the men's soccer, women's soccer, women's basketball and women's lacrosse teams play in the Landmark Conference Semifinals and the baseball, softball, men's cross country, women's cross country and men's golf teams compete in the Landmark Conference Championships as 15 of the 20 varsity programs participated in the postseason.
