Top 10 Games Of 2019-20 ? Best of the Rest - What Missed The Countdown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is continuing its look back at its 2019-20 athletic campaign. Before announcing the top event in the Top 10 Exciting Games from the past year, here is a look at the four contests that received votes from the Moravian athletic administrators but missed out on making the Top 10.

 

Baseball Holds Off Johnson & Wales University for 13-9 Win
The Blue and Grey, who were 5-5 when COVID-19 first paused, then cancelled the rest of the season, held off a late rally for a 13-9 victory over Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University on March 4 at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Greyhounds collected 14 hits in the game with sophomore designated hitter AJ Brocious going 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Senior left fielder Ian Csencsits, junior first baseman Brett Moyer, senior catcher Ian Luberti and freshman second baseman Chris Pow each had two hits with Csencsits and Luberto each driving in three runs. Senior Connor Morro picked up the win in relief on the mound while junior Kevin Brandt earned his first save with four strikeouts.

Men's Soccer Records a 3-2 Overtime Victory at Susquehanna University
The Greyhounds, who were in the countdown twice, earned another overtime win, this time at Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action on October 5 with the tying goal in the 82nd minute and the winning marker just 22 seconds into overtime. Moravian tied the match at 1-1 with just 24 seconds left in the first half when freshman midfielder Ryan Cole knocked in a pass from sophomore forward Safa Turkdonmez. In the 82nd minute, sophomore midfielder Anthony Nagy would connect on his fifth penalty kick of the season to knot the score again at 2-2, and then early in the overtime, Nagy took a pass from sophomore midfielder Quinn Middleton and scored his eighth goal of the season and his sixth game-winning goal of the fall.

Men's Basketball Tops The College of Mount Saint Vincent, 79-71, For Shawn Postiglione's First Win
Moravian, which appeared in the countdown once, posted a 79-71 win over The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Johnston Hall on November 11 to give Head Coach Shawn Postiglione his first victory in his debut season with the Greyhounds. The Hounds had four players in double figures with senior guard C.J. Barnes recording the first double-double of his career with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Matt O'Connor tossed in 14 points while senior forward John Hargraves and junior guard Keith Otto both scored 10 points in the victory.

Women's Volleyball Rallies from 2-0 Deficit to Defeat Penn State-Harrisburg, 3-2, in Season Opener
The Hounds began the 2019 season by hosting the 17th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational in Johnston Hall on August 30. In the opening match, the Blue and Grey fell behind Penn State-Harrisburg, 2-0, dropping the first set 25-23 and the second set 25-21. Moravian rallied to capture the third set 25-17 and the fourth set 25-12 to force the deciding fifth set, which the Greyhounds took 15-10 to start the season with a win. Sophomore middle blocker Jess Appleton led Moravian with 14 kills and four blocks in the match while sophomore outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach had 11 kills and 12 digs and senior setter Victoria Kauffman added 21 assists.
