BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's tennis team captured its eighth straight victory with an 8-1 triumph over visiting Penn State Abington in non-conference action at Hoffman Courts Saturday as the Greyhounds celebrated Senior Day.
How It Happened
- The Hounds swept the doubles matches for an early 3-0 advantage. Junior Zachary Lebby and sophomore Matthew Labosky opened the contest with an 8-2 win at second doubles while the tandem of senior Steve Schneider and freshman Garrett Morris recorded an 8-6 victory at third doubles. The duo of juniors Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 triumph at first doubles
- Moravian would capture five of the six singles contest. Sophomore Shayaan Farhad was winning his first singles match 5-4 when his opponent retired due to an injury to make it 4-0 for the Blue & Grey. Freshman Gavin Labbadia earned the deciding team point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles while sophomore Ryan Burke made it 6-0 with 6-1, 6-3 win at third singles. Schneider took his first set at sixth singles, 6-1, and then won as his opponent was unable to continue due to injury. The Lions made it 7-1 with a victory at fifth singles while Morris finished off the contest with a 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2) victory at fourth singles
- Prior to the match, Moravian honored Schneider for his career with the Greyhounds
