TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman Gavin Labbadia has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Labbadia posted a combined 6-0 record in singles and doubles action while assisting the Hounds to a 4-0 week in non-conference action. Labbadia went 4-0 in singles action and 2-0 in doubles action with sophomore Shayaan Farhad during the four matches. Labbadia and Farhad recorded 8-3 victories versus the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) and Muhlenberg College. In singles action, Labbadia earned a 6-1, 6-1 win versus USJ and 6-1, 6-2 victory at Muhlenberg while playing fourth singles. He had a 6-0, 6-0 triumph versus Penn State Abington at second singles, and Labbadia completed the week with a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles at Penn State Brandywine.
"Gavin had an outstanding week winning all of his singles and doubles matches," noted Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "He's a great addition to our team, and he's been working extremely hard to improve on certain areas of his game."
The Hounds, who are 10-2 on the season, are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 23 when the squad hosts the Juniata College in a Landmark Conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
