Hounds Claim 13th Straight Win and Postseason Berth with Victory versus Scranton

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's tennis squad claimed its 13th straight win and the Greyhounds clinched a berth in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 6-3 victory over The University of Scranton at Hoffman Courts Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds led 2-1 after the doubles action, and the Blue & Grey scored the first point of the match as the tandem of sophomore Ryan Burke and freshman Gavin Labbadia earned an 8-1 triumph at third doubles. Moravian made it 2-0 when the duo of juniors Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer posting an 8-2 win at second doubles
  • Marshall made the lead 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at third singles while junior Anthony Ronca recorded a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at second singles to push the Hounds' edge to 4-1. Scranton won the next contest to finish at first singles before Labbadia registered the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles. Burke added a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles for the Greyhounds' final point
  • The Landmark Conference has expanded the postseason tournament to six teams this season with the addition of two schools, and Moravian can finish no lower than sixth with tiebreakers against anyone they could finish tied with. The tournament begins on Wednesday, May 1 with the first round as the Hounds will make their second straight postseason appearance
