Jacoby Honored as Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Rhett Jacoby '19 honored as Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Rhett Jacoby has been honored as the Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.

Jacoby, who earned his second Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week honor this season, tossed a complete game with a career-high 12 strikeouts in a 9-1 win over Heidelberg (Ohio) University at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida as the Greyhounds closed out their Spring Break trip. Jacoby allowed an unearned run on six hits and did not allow a walk in the victory while recording an assist. He is now sixth in school history with 131 strikeouts and tied for ninth in victories with 14 as part of a 14-4 career mark.

"Rhett looked outstanding in his game against Heidelberg," commented Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "He keeps getting better every outing, and was able to maintain his velocity and control of every pitch all game. Heidelberg is an excellent team, and Rhett was able to not only do well, but he was able to lead our team. We expect Rhett to continue to improve and get better. This is a well-earned award for his efforts. He'd be the first to share it with his team."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action with their 2018 home opener on Thursday, March 15 when the squad welcomes New Jersey City University to Gillespie Field for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 p.m.
