Austin Markowski '19 named as Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior outfielder Austin Markowski has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance last week.

Markowski helped the Greyhounds to a sweep of Juniata College and an overall record of 3-1 for the week in Landmark Conference action. Markowski hit .538 for the four games, going 7-for-13 at the plate to go along with five runs, seven RBIs, a double and two homers for a 1.077 slugging percentage. Markowski also drew three walks for a .625 on-base percentage and he had one stolen base. He hit safely in all four games and was 1-for-3 in a 10-3 loss to Elizabethtown.

Markowski opened the series with Juniata by going 3-for-5 with two runs, a double, a homer and three RBIs in a 12-1 win. In the doubleheader, he was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs in the opening game, a 15-8 win, and Markowski finished the series going 1-for-2 with a solo home run, an RBI and two runs. The homer gave Moravian the lead for good in the 7-2 win, and it was his team-leading fourth of the season. Markowski added four putouts and an assist in five chances from his center field position.

"Austin had a great weekend. He had been working on some things very hard over the past two weeks, and we are starting to see the results," commented Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "This is where work ethic, and committing to the right work, paid off. We had a couple of guys that were deserving of this award, but Austin certainly earned this. I am certain he would want to share this with his teammates. Austin helped lead his team at working on getting better all week, and it paid off for the team."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, April 3 when the squad hosts Albright College in a non-conference game with first pitch set for 4:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field in Bethlehem.
