BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 2 Rowan University in non-conference action at Gillespie Field Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who are 13-12 this spring, had five hits in the game with junior center fielder Austin Markowski going 2-for-3 with a double.

Senior Dan Morrin made the start on the mound and tossed six innings as he allowed two runs on five hits and three walks to go with a career-high 12 strikeouts, the third different Greyhound pitcher to record 12 strikeouts in a game this spring. Junior Kevin Shields tossed an inning with one strikeout, two walks, two hits and four runs while sophomore Connor Morro pitched the final two innings with a strikeout and two hits.

The Greyhounds would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Senior first baseman Joey Maker reached on an error with one out and eventually scored on another error by the Profs on a ball hit by sophomore right fielder Carmine Palummo.

Rowan scored twice in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead, and the Profs added three runs in the top of the seventh to extend the edge to 5-1.

Moravian would get two runs back in the home half of the seventh inning. Sophomore second baseman Ian Csencsits drew a walk and junior designated hitter Evan Kulig was hit by a pitch to start the frame. Markowski reached on an error to load the bases before junior left fielder Mike Mittl grounded into an RBI fielder's choice as Csencsits scored. Senior third baseman David Wodzisz followed with an RBI ground out to score Kulig.

Rowan added another run in the top of the eighth inning to extend its edge to 6-3.

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Wednesday, April 11 in a non-conference game versus Keystone College with first pitch at 4:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field in Bethlehem.
