Brett Harder with 2 Goals Leads Hounds' Rally for 4-2 win at PSU-Berks

READING, Pa. --- Senior midfielder Brett Harder scored a pair of goals in the final 17 minutes to cap a four-goal rally as the Moravian College men's soccer team topped Penn State-Berks, 4-2, in non-conference action Saturday evening to improve to 2-0 on the year.

The Nittany Lions took a quick 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, and PSU-Berks extended its lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute. The Greyhounds would get onto the scoreboard in the 36th minute when sophomore midfielder Connor Phillips scored on a penalty kick after a foul in the box for his first goal in a Moravian uniform. The score would remain that way for the remainder of the first half.

Sophomore forward Hunter Ackerson tied the match for the Hounds with his team-leading third goal of the season when he put a rebound into the far corner of the net. Harder snapped the tie and put Moravian in the lead for good when he headed in a corner kick by junior midfielder Ian Larmier in the 74th minute. Harder scored an insurance goal in the 81st minute when his shot deflected in off the far post, tying Ackerson for the team-lead with three goals in two matches.

The Greyhounds held advantages of 20-11 in shots and 8-5 on corner kicks in the contest, and senior keeper Brian Boland added a pair of saves for his second straight win.

Moravian is scheduled to continue its four-game road trip on Wednesday, September 9 in a non-conference game at Immaculata University starting at 4:00 p.m.
