Hounds Fall to Muhlenberg in Non-Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team dropped its non-conference match to rival Muhlenberg College in the Matte Award match by a final score of 3-0 Wednesday afternoon on the HUB Quad.

The Hounds had a couple of early chances come from sophomore midfielder Connor Phillips; however, both of his shots were unable to find the back of the net. Not long after Moravian's flurry of shots, Muhlenberg found the back of the net to go up by one in the 11th minute of the first half. At the end of opening 45 minutes of action, the Greyhounds were outshooting the Mules 9-7 but the Mules were ahead on the scoreboard 1-0.

The second half started the same way as the first with the Hounds finding early chances from freshman midfielder Chris Caso and junior midfielder Robert McKinley but both were saved by the Muhlenberg goalie. Muhlenberg would score two more times in the second half.

"I thought we had our opportunities especially in the first half but we just didn't capitalize," commented Head Coach Todd Ervin after the game. "And when you don't capitalize on those chances, especially against a team of Muhlenberg's quality it is going to come back and bite you. I thoughtwe deserved something early on and we made some mistakes later on and those mistakes can't be made this late in the season."

Senior goalkeeper Brian Boland made two saves for the Blue and Grey.

Up next for the Greyhounds is a Landmark Conference match at Susquehanna University on Saturday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m.
