Men's Soccer Tops Immaculata 2-1 to Improve to 3-0 for 1st Time since 1979

IMMACULATA, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team scored twice in the opening 11 minutes and made the lead stick for a 2-1 non-conference win at Immaculata University Wednesday as the Greyhounds remained undefeated at 3-0 on the year, the first time the program has started a season 3-0 since 1979 when the Hounds started 9-0.

The Greyhounds dominated early with sophomore forward William Demmel  putting a shot on goal just 3:02 into the contest. Sophomore midfielder Brett Lubben took a corner kick two minutes later with junior midfielder Ian Larimer putting the ball into the net for his second goal of the season at the 5:05 mark.

The Hounds next shot would also find the back of the next as freshman midfielder David Durski scored his first career goal as his floating shot off of a pass from Larimer found the top corner of the net in the 11th minute for a 2-0 lead.

The Mighty Macs answered right back as they scored on their first shot of the match in the 15th minute. That would be the only goal senior keeper Brian Boland would allowed as he made three saves to move into tenth in the Moravian record books with 220 career saves and his 17th career victory.

Moravian finished the contest with an 18-8 advantage in shots, putting seven more shots on goal over the final 72 minutes of action, and the Greyhounds also had 9-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Hounds will continue their four-match road trip this weekend when they take on host Rowan University on the opening day of the Gilmore Alumni Classic on Saturday, September 12 at 5:00 p.m.
