Men's Soccer Begins 2016 at Cairn University on Thursday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer squad is set to begin its 2016 season with a non-conference road contest at Cairn University on Thursday, September 1 with the year getting underway at 3:30 p.m.

The Greyhounds, under the direction of eighth-year Head Coach Todd Ervin, return 21 players including five starters this fall as the program looks to challenge for one of the four berths in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Moravian will be playing its home games to the new John Makuvek Field in the center of campus as the turf field replaced the natural grass HUB Quad field this summer. The Hounds will make their home debut on September 7 versus Immaculata University at 7:30 p.m.

Junior midfielder Connor Phillips is Moravian's top returning scorer from a year ago when he led the squad with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. Sophomore forward Koshane Marshall had eight points on two goals and four assists while junior forward Hunter Ackerson netted three goals. Sophomore midfielder Ron Jones returns after scoring twice in 2015 while senior forward Saul Marcial and sophomore midfielder David Durski each had a goal and an assist.

Sophomore defender Rocky Fatuova netted one goal while junior midfielder Brett Lubben had two assists and senior midfielder Robert McKinley added one assist. Moravian's depth also includes junior defender Corey Klaskin, junior midfielder/forward William Demmel, junior defender Brandon Percy, sophomore defender Akinori Mollenthiel, sophomore midfielder Brendan Docherty, sophomore forward Kenny Fellows, sophomore midfielder Colin Docherty, sophomore defender Matthew Clayton, sophomore midfielder Mark Wolinski, sophomore midfielder Reed McLaughlin and sophomore defender Michael Guarino.

Junior Bryan Yaskowski is the team's lone returning goalie, having made 26 saves and posted a 1.78 goals against average in just over 400 minutes of action last season.
