LANGHORNE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the season as the Greyhounds posted a 2-0 non-conference win at Cairn University Thursday afternoon in the first action of 2016.
The Hounds would get on the board in the seventh minute when the Highlanders tried to clear a ball from their defensive end but it caromed off of the post and into the net for an own goal. Moravian junior midfielder Brett Lubben pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute when he took a cross from senior forward Saul Marcial and fired a shot into the back of the net.
Junior goalie Bryan Yaskowski made a save on the only shot on goal he faced for his first career shutout.
The Greyhounds finished the match with a 15-4 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 7 when the squad will play its home opener on the new turf John Makuvek Field as the Blue and Grey host Immaculata University at 7:30 p.m.
