Novak Named Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Josie Novak has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

Novak helped the No. 18 Greyhounds to a 3-1 record last week with a sweep of Neumann University and a split versus The Catholic University of America to begin Landmark Conference action. Novak was 2-0 over three appearances with a 2.52 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 16.2 innings. She had a career-high 13 strikeouts in a 3-0 shutout of Neumann to become the ninth pitcher in school history to reach 200 career strikeouts, and Novak is now eighth with 220 strikeouts.

"Josie had a very good start to the week with her shutout against Neumann," commented Head Coach John Byrne. "She showed the type of dominant pitcher she can be, and we'll need her to continue with performances like that as we aim to win another Landmark Conference title this spring."

The Greyhounds, 11-3 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action, are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 24 when the squad hosts Ursinus College in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field.
