Carisone Selected as Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week Again

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Amanda Carisone has been selected as the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

Carisone helped the No. 19 Greyhounds to a 6-0 record last week including four wins in Landmark Conference action as the Hounds clinched their 22nd straight postseason appearance and the top seed in the 2016 Landmark Conference Tournament on May 6-7. Carisone, who earned her second Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the season, posted a 3-0 record for the week with two shutouts a 0.37 ERA, 10 hits allowed, one run, one walk and 22 strikeouts in 19 innings.

She began the week with a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over DeSales University that saw Carisone tie her career high with 11 strikeouts while walking none. She then had a three-hit shutout with a walk and seven more strikeouts in an 8-0, five-inning win versus Drew University. Carisone finished the week with a 6-1 win over Susquehanna University to clinch the right to host the Landmark Conference Tournament. She gave up five hits, and a run while striking out four.

"Amanda had a really good week and showed the command of the strike zone that we know she is capable of having," commented Head Coach John Byrne. "I was most impressed that she allowed only 10 hits and one walk over 19 innings last week. We hope Amanda can keep these type of performances going as we head down the home stretch of the schedule and into the postseason."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, April 21 in a non-conference doubleheader versus Eastern University beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem.
