Conner & Schlosbon Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College junior Victoria Conner and senior Mary Schlosbon have been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV NCAA Division III Softball First Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

By making the All-District First Team, Conner and Schlosbon are now on the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades that will be announced on Tuesday, May 24. Moravian has had 43 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Beginning in 2011-12, the program is made up of four levels – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division (NAIA, Canadian colleges and junior colleges). District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania.

"Victoria and Mary really show the meaning of what it takes to be a student-athlete," noted Head Coach John Byrne. "They both work just as hard off the field as they do on it and have been major contributors this season. We'll miss Mary after the season ends, and they will both excel in their chosen fields after graduation but will always be part of the Moravian softball family."

The duo has helped the No. 19 ranked Greyhounds to a 32-4 record this season and the top seed in the 2016 Landmark Conference Tournament that will be hosted at Blue & Grey Field on Saturday and Sunday, May 7-8.

Conner earned a spot on the 2016 Landmark All-Conference First team as a designated player, and she was on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2015. Heading into this weekend's tournament at Moravian, Conner is hitting .367 with 29 hits, 10 runs, four doubles, four home runs and 24 RBIs. Conner is maintaining a 3.59 GPA at Moravian as a nursing major, and she is involved with the Student Nurses Association and Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Schlosbon was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second straight year earlier this week, and she was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2014. Schlosbon is hitting .345 this year with 39 hits, 19 runs, three doubles, three triples and five RBIs. She has collected 142 career hits, and Scholsbon was also on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll the last two years and the Landmark Conference All-Sportsmanship Team in 2015. Schlosbon has a 3.51 GPA at Moravian while majoring in psychology and minoring in sociology as well as working for College's residence life staff.
