Siragusa & Novak Named Landmark Conference Softball Athlete & Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior left fielder Julie Siragusa and sophomore pitcher Josie Novak have been named this week's Landmark Conference Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week for their performances last week.

The duo helped the No. 21 Greyhounds run their winning streak to eight games with a pair of doubleheader sweeps last week. Moravian is now 19-3 overall and 5-1 in Landmark Conference action this season.

Siragusa hit .467 last week with a 7-for-15 week at the plate, and she added a pair of doubles, a triple and a home run for a .933 slugging percentage. Siragusa scored four runs and drove in six more including one on a sacrifice fly. She had a .471 on-base percentage in the four games and made two putouts in the field.

"Julie had some key hits during the week to drive in some runs for us," said Head Coach John Byrne. "She has really started hitting the ball well over the last few weeks and hitting with some pop in the three spot in the line-up."

Novak won both of her decisions in the circle to improve to 10-1 on the season. She had a 0.50 ERA for the week and 14 strikeouts in 14 innings as Novak allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and six walks.

"Josie had two strong performances in the circle last week and continues to improve as the season progresses," noted Byrne. "We've been getting some good pitching this year, and our staff is working hard to get better each and every day."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 7 in a non-conference doubleheader at rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Allentown.
